Don’t Give It to Uncle Sam — Keep Your Tax Dollars Funding Oklahoma Medicine

Posted By: Roger Thompson OEFOM ,

The clock is ticking.

The end of the year will be here before we know it, and now is the time to make decisions about where your charitable dollars can make the greatest difference.

Before you close the books on another year, consider this question: Would you rather send another dollar away or put your charitable dollars to work strengthening osteopathic medicine right here in Oklahoma?

The Oklahoma Education Foundation for Osteopathic Medicine needs your support — and we need it now.

A contribution to OEFOM is more than a donation. It is an investment in osteopathic medical students, scholarships, medical education and the future of our profession. It is an investment in the physicians who will care for Oklahoma families for decades to come.

Your contribution makes a difference. You change lives.

Think about what your gift can accomplish. It can help a medical student pursue the dream of becoming an osteopathic physician. It can support educational opportunities. It can strengthen programs that promote the distinctive osteopathic philosophy. Most importantly, it can help build the next generation of physicians who will serve Oklahoma.

Our state needs physicians. Rural Oklahoma needs physicians. Our communities need physicians. And the future of osteopathic medicine needs physicians who are willing to invest in those coming behind them.

This is our profession. These are our students. This is our responsibility.

Don’t assume someone else will give.

If osteopathic medicine has provided you with a career, an opportunity to serve and the privilege of caring for patients, now is the time to give something back.

Consider a year-end gift of $250, $500, $1,000, $2,500 or more. If you have been blessed with the ability to make a significant contribution, we ask you to consider doing so. Every gift matters, but leadership gifts can have a tremendous impact on the future of osteopathic medicine in Oklahoma.

Depending on your individual circumstances and applicable tax laws, charitable giving may also provide tax benefits. Talk with your tax professional about the timing and deductibility of your contribution.

But don’t give simply because of a potential tax benefit.

Give because Oklahoma osteopathic medicine is worth investing in.

Give because a student needs encouragement.

Give because Oklahoma needs more physicians.

Give because someone invested in the profession before you arrived.

Give because the future of osteopathic medicine will be determined by what we are willing to do today.

The end of the year is coming. Don’t wait until Dec. 31. Make your contribution to OEFOM today.

Before you send more of your hard-earned dollars to Uncle Sam, talk with your tax adviser and determine whether charitable giving can put some of those dollars to work for a cause you believe in.

Keep your charitable dollars working in Oklahoma. Keep them supporting osteopathic medicine. Keep them changing lives.

Make your year-end contribution to the Oklahoma Education Foundation for Osteopathic Medicine.

Don’t wait. Give today.

We are DO proud.

And together, we are investing in the future of Oklahoma medicine.
