A United Voice Speaks Volumes

There is strength in numbers, but there is even greater strength when those numbers speak with one united voice.

The Oklahoma Osteopathic Association exists to be that voice for physicians and the patients they serve. Whether you are a hospitalist, an independent physician, part of a large health system, practicing in rural Oklahoma or serving patients in one of our metropolitan communities, the issues affecting medicine affect all of us.

Every day, decisions are being made that influence how you practice medicine. Scope of practice, physician reimbursement, prior authorization, regulatory requirements, access to care and other health policy issues can directly affect physicians and their patients. The OOA works to ensure physicians have a voice when those decisions are made.

The OOA continues to contend for physician-led health care and believes physicians should remain at the center of the health care team. As the association has emphasized, its advocacy represents physicians regardless of specialty or practice setting.

Membership Makes Our Voice Stronger

Membership in the OOA is more than belonging to a professional organization. It is an investment in the future of your profession.

The OOA provides members with advocacy, continuing medical education, professional networking, leadership opportunities and timely information about issues affecting medicine. Members also have opportunities to participate in the governance of the association and help shape its direction. 

But perhaps the greatest value of membership is something that cannot be measured simply by adding up benefits: a united voice.

When the OOA speaks at the Oklahoma Capitol, communicates with state agencies or joins our national osteopathic partners on federal issues, the strength of that message comes from the physicians standing behind it.

One physician can raise an important concern. Hundreds and thousands of physicians speaking together can help create meaningful change.

It Is Time to Pay Your Dues

As we prepare for another year of advocacy, now is the time to renew your OOA membership and pay your dues.

Your dues help provide the resources necessary for the association to monitor legislation, maintain a presence at the state Capitol and advocate for physicians and their patients. 

If you have allowed your membership to lapse, come back.

If you have never joined, now is the time.

If you are already a member, thank you for standing with your fellow physicians.

Whether you are a hospitalist or in independent practice, your voice matters. Whether you practice family medicine or a highly specialized field, your voice matters. Whether you have practiced for three years or 30 years, your voice matters.

And when those voices come together, they speak volumes.

Our advocacy ultimately reaches far beyond the physician. It is about the patient.

Physician-led health care keeps medical training, clinical judgment and the physician-patient relationship at the center of health care decisions. The OOA’s mission is to promote the health of Oklahomans through education and advocacy for the osteopathic profession.
